The Story of Finesse Catering & Events
Calvin J. Mason is the heart and hands behind Finesse Catering & Events, a brand known for its exquisite workmanship and full-service event experiences. Calvin’s passion for cooking was born in the warmth of his childhood kitchen, inspired by his hard-working single mother of four. Though she juggled multiple jobs, she always managed to put a hot meal on the stove. Determined to help ease her burden, Calvin began cooking at just eight years old—unintentionally igniting a lifelong love for culinary arts.
After graduating from the Memphis Culinary Academy in 1995, Calvin officially launched Finesse Catering & Events in 1996 in Memphis, Tennessee. What began as preparing meals for family functions and church gatherings soon blossomed into full-scale catering for weddings, galas, and milestone celebrations across the region. His style—deeply rooted in Southern soul food with Mediterranean influences—quickly earned him a reputation for bold flavors and heartfelt hospitality.
As the business grew, so did Calvin’s artistic eye. Without formal training, he found himself naturally drawn to visual storytelling through design and décor. What started as a passion for presentation evolved into full event production. Today, Finesse Catering & Events is more than a catering company—it’s an experience curator. From private chef services and plated dinners to stunning décor, DJs, live bands, hookah stations, gourmet desserts, photography, videography, 360 photo booths, lighting/audio/visual elements, and even adult entertainment for select private events, Finesse offers it all!
